what to expect

During sessions, you are encouraged to talk openly about the primary concerns in your life.  You are in charge of the discussion and I will assist with helping to focus your immediate needs to ensure progress throughout the session.

Sessions are usually weekly but can also be scheduled biweekly depending on the need.   If you are in crisis or extreme distress, you may need more than one session per week, at least until the crisis passes. 

At the end of each session, we will identify any goals or copings skills discussed to be use or attended prior to the next session. At times, you may also be asked to complete assignments relative to what you are focusing on in the sessions.  

For counseling to be affective you must be an active participant, both inside and outside of the counseling session. You are welcome and encourage to ask questions throughout the session to create a more comfortable and trusting environment.
